So how to start this post?…well, honestly it's not the best start to my 2017. Somehow, I got a little headcold (I never get sick) so I guess I was due. And let me say as "little" as it seemingly is, it's still kicking my ass. Oh well, it's only temporary so instead of doing nothing I am choosing to write this blog post and update you guys on what has been going on and, what my plans are for this new year in fitness and beyond.
How was your 2016? What goals do you have set for 2017? What do you WANT to change for the new year? All good questions indeed. For me, I am so happy that 2016 is in my rear-view mirror and looking forward to a clean slate.
My father passed in mid April this year so suffice it to say I lost some focus there for a while. Actually it's been a rought past two years, losing my last granddad in 2014. So how do you deal with these kinds of life changing events? Who knows. We are all different. For me, I did some travelling, time with loved ones, some introspection, reflection and basically what now feels like some wheel-spinning. I uploaded a short YouTube video on this a few weeks back.
What I DID learn to remember going through those painful "events" is that we only get one life. We need to make it count. It seems cliche' but after seeing both my dad and grandfather leave this world, it was sobering to know that one day, all of us will be there one day or another. So, get out there and kick some ass and make your dreams a reality..even if it kills you trying- the world keeps spinning and won't slow down for anyone.
With that said, my 2016 was not all doom and gloom. I got hooks up with my favorite sports supplement company, BPI Sports in 2016 and that has a been awesome. I have a couple other FITNESS RELATED irons in the fire I plan to announce later into the first quarter of the year, so stay tuned.
For now, here are a couple more things I plan on doing for you guys. Let me back up a bit first. In early December, I posted a video on YouTube about my plan to upload a video every day for a new vlogging project in 2017. Well, that did'nt happen as well-intentioned my plan was. I did a few vids, mostly on motivation and the like, which I plan to expand on this year.
So, instead my new and improved plan is to put videos up on each Monday and Wednesday each week. Teusdays and Thursdays will be blog post days, much like this one (the only reason Im not filming is because I am under the weather) but expect this new and much more attainable schedule to be put into motion ASAP. Fridays will be "clean up" days, editing or whatever. If I am ahead in the week, I may just put up a bonus video. Topics will be anything under the sun but mostly will be fitness and goal related; this is where you guys can help. Give me some suggestions! Who knows maybe I will do a video on your questions and comments.
So that's it in a nutshell guys, go out on the attack this year- make your goals a reality. Start now by just writing the most pressing ones you would like to achieve. In coming content, I will help you chip away at them using various techniques.
But for starters, here is what you can do starting right now: BE SPECIFIC AS POSSIBLE WITH YOUR NEW GOALS. This will make a huge difference in your day to day focus on them, as they are more tangible this way. DON'T be vague with your goals. Also list them in order of importance, maybe set up a timeline as well. This will prioritize them for you and when the clock is ticking this lights a hotter fire under your butt, adding some urgency.
